Case Study: Pathways Solution for RMIT University
Pathways are an alternative way to reach a degree. If one misses the mark on their ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank), RMIT as a dual sector university can provide them with other ways to get the qualification they want. The pathways exist between Vocational Education (TAFE) and Higher Education (University), helping people to progress from one qualification to another, to meet the entry requirements of their degree.
The Challenge
Many people contact RMIT University and enquire about pathways. Responding to all the enquiries, explaining the pathway options to each individual is time and resource consuming.
The Solution
We designed and built a custom web application, publicly accessible on the internet, to help people to choose a pathway. A user goes through the following steps:
- Selecting an area of interest such as art, engineering, law, etc., to view the course options
- Selecting a course to view the possible pathways
- Selecting a pathway to view the pathway details
- Selecting any step (course) of the selected pathway to view the course details and entry requirements
The Result
Reduced RMIT staff’s workload by providing an online self-service application for people who are interested in pathways, improved customer experience.
